Camping Trip

Posted by Daniel Cox in Uncategorized, Updates

On Friday April 17th the men of the Zeta Pi chapter  went on a camping brotherhood. We drove about 20 miles west of Canton to J-Mac’s farm. We arrived about 6:30 P.M. and decided that we should get the tents up and start a fire before we did anything else.

We got the tents up and the fire going and began to roast hotdogs and brats when Justin Shawe’s cell phone rings. Its J-Mac and on his way to go get more…camping items , he had gotten his truck stuck. So we loaded up Shawe’s truck with guys and tried to get the truck unstuck. With all of us pushing and Shawe’s truck pulling we hardly moved J-Mac’s truck. It was stuck good and is still stuck there too! After that big deal we started driving back to the campsite when some people met us on 4-wheelers drinking beer and asked us what we were doing. Well J-Mac told them who he was and whose farm we were at and they ended up being J-Mac’s uncles neighbors. Well we made it back to the campsite covered in mud.

We sat around the fire talking, chanting and having a good time till some of the guys who weren’t staying had to go back to campus. Well, the guys at the campsite realized we were out of camping supplies and needed to go and get some more. This was 2:00 in the morning and nothing was open, but by God if we could see the lights, they were open! Well we didn’t get anymore supplies but we did sit around the fire and talked until about 3 A.M.

We all went to bed to come back to campus the next morning. It was a fun time and even though everything did not go as smoothly as we wanted to we all had a good time and enjoyed it. We are hoping that we can have another camping trip in the summer or fall of this year. And we have definitely learned from our mistakes.

Weekly update

Posted by Daniel Cox in Updates

This past week we held the annual 72 hour pumpkin sale. All proceeds went to our St. Judes Up Till Dawn team. We raised 158 dollars! There were 35 pumpkins, I think most of them sold. One even sold at 3 in the morning! We couldn’t have a fire pit up there this year so we all huddled around a space heater…until it died. Luckily it never got too cold.

Saturday was the last Home game. The Blue crew consisting of a few actives, and its newest member Wildcat Willie, showed their full support

Friday night, we had a halloween mixer with the Tri Sigmas. It was well attended. We also have a flash lite tag mixer with the Chi Omegas this friday.

Mark your calendars, April 2nd thru the 5th we will be sponsoring an Alumni weekend. Plans include a softball tournament, the Red Carnation Ball, and a Barbecue. Other events will be posted at a later date.

Weekly Update

The basement is looking really good. We’ve finished the study room. All thats left is putting carpet in, which will be a dark green. We also have painted the downstairs lounge Dark blue and Cream. We have a new-to-us stove plugged into the wall, so every now and then you can smell food. That is just the first addition to the kitchen, which will start hopefully in 2 weeks.

Pumpkin sales kick off today at noon! Jonathan McReynolds and myself went down to Grafton IL this weekend to pick up 35 pumpkins. 15 are carved, the rest are being sold uncarved, or carve yourself. Its going to be really cold this week.

Saturday Night we had a mixer with Chi Omega. There was plenty of fun to go around. All the actives and pledges that went dressed in costume. Awards for costumes were given out at the end of the mixer, after a round of Limbo and Bobbing for apples. The Chi Omega’s had food already prepared, which was really good!

Until next week,
