Camping Trip

Posted by Daniel Cox in Uncategorized, Updates

On Friday April 17th the men of the Zeta Pi chapter  went on a camping brotherhood. We drove about 20 miles west of Canton to J-Mac’s farm. We arrived about 6:30 P.M. and decided that we should get the tents up and start a fire before we did anything else.

We got the tents up and the fire going and began to roast hotdogs and brats when Justin Shawe’s cell phone rings. Its J-Mac and on his way to go get more…camping items , he had gotten his truck stuck. So we loaded up Shawe’s truck with guys and tried to get the truck unstuck. With all of us pushing and Shawe’s truck pulling we hardly moved J-Mac’s truck. It was stuck good and is still stuck there too! After that big deal we started driving back to the campsite when some people met us on 4-wheelers drinking beer and asked us what we were doing. Well J-Mac told them who he was and whose farm we were at and they ended up being J-Mac’s uncles neighbors. Well we made it back to the campsite covered in mud.

We sat around the fire talking, chanting and having a good time till some of the guys who weren’t staying had to go back to campus. Well, the guys at the campsite realized we were out of camping supplies and needed to go and get some more. This was 2:00 in the morning and nothing was open, but by God if we could see the lights, they were open! Well we didn’t get anymore supplies but we did sit around the fire and talked until about 3 A.M.

We all went to bed to come back to campus the next morning. It was a fun time and even though everything did not go as smoothly as we wanted to we all had a good time and enjoyed it. We are hoping that we can have another camping trip in the summer or fall of this year. And we have definitely learned from our mistakes.

A message from President Lance Smith

A Message from President Lance Smith

Fellow Fraters,

It is with great honor today that I am the one to address you as the Prytanis of the Zeta Pi Chapter. Fifty years ago today the Offices of the Grand Chapter saw it fit to grant our chapter a charter. It is something that I, as well as hopefully you, am eternally grateful for. The house has came along way in those 50 years. Today things are looking great, but we are not content. This house has helped all of us in our mental, moral, and social development, and we need to continue to help men grow. We are positioned to do that for many years. We have never been as diverse as we are now and that is our strength. We take men from all wakes of life and make them better men. Whether it is by teaching them the value of giving back to the community, teaching the importance of education, or just by being a better friend, we can reach all men.

With this being said, I would like to propose a toast. A toast to the principles of our beloved fraternity. A toast to love that binds our hearts with the sturdy chords of fraternal affection. A toast to charity that is impulsive to see virtues in a brother and slow to reprove his faults. A toast to esteem that is respectful to the honest convictions of others and that refrains from treading upon that which is sacred to spirit and conscience. A toast to 50 great years. A toast to the 618 men who have been initiated into the Zeta-Pi chapter. A toast to the hundreds more who will initiate into the house. And finally, a toast to another 50 great years.Thank you all so much for the time, effort, and resources you have supplied us with. We cherish your involvement more than you will ever know.

YITB,
Lance Smith “Lock” 597
